Green Living

go green Green living, also known as sustainable living, is a chosen lifestyle that focuses on using earth friendly materials, fabrics, cleaning products, and health products.

People who decide to go green, live this lifestyle do their best to lessen their footprint on the environment overall. What are some characteristics of the green living lifestyle?

-Composting leftover food items into rich soil to grow fresh food and vegetables

-Minimizing their use of unnecessary energy when possible and utilizing natural energy sources whenever it is possible

-Striving to be in natural harmony with nature and respectful of the planet

-Opting for healthier foods grown organically

-Wearing clothing items manufactured from organic materials

Go Green With Your Lifestyle

As you can see, the green living lifestyle is a bit different and can prove to be a challenge to some when they realize what they need to give up in order to go green in their homes and overall lifestyle. However, the green movement is very alive and vibrant right now, so there are many quality products from which to choose in the way of organic home products, earth friendly products for home, healthy, and energy conscious living, and green materials for decorating the home.

organic green apples The organic food market is booming. There are choices available in virtually every food category that are produced from organic ingredients or are organically grown. The best way to get organic fruits and vegetables would be to grow your own. However, for those who don’t have the space to do that, there are farmer’s markets, food cooperatives, and organic markets to shop for the best in organic foods.

Consumers can now opt for organic meats that contain no hormones, GMO’s, or antibiotics. There are organic choices for dairy, whole grains, breads, vegetables, fruits, and poultry. Yes, these products are a bit more expensive than their non-organic counterparts, but well worth the improved health as a result of eating them regularly.

Use Earth Friendly Products

wood flooring Are you thinking of redecorating your home? Be sure to consider flooring materials that are produced naturally, paints that are VOC-free, fabrics that are produced from natural materials, and recycling old items for new purposes. Green decorating doesn’t mean sacrificing quality or appearance; in fact it’s just the opposite.

Decorating with the environment in mind will afford us a safer (chemical-free) home, better health, and a more natural indoor environment in which to live. Give your home a facelift using green materials and trust me, it will be beautiful and inviting.

Recycle and Reuse

Contrary to what some might think, sometimes older is better. Search for antique furniture rather than purchasing new items. Consider adding paint, ribbon, lace, beads, fabric, or some other accent to bring new life to curtains, lampshades, furniture pieces, linens, bedroom décor, and the like. You’ll be surprised at what can do double duty as a planter – an old pair of boots, cups, water pitchers, or an old sprinkling can that has worn a hole in the bottom. Think outside the norm when it comes to refurbishing the items you already have on hand or have discovered at your local thrift or salvage store.
