You might say my "cottage life" started at a young age. All of my growing up years, my family traveled and moved around a lot and lived on a limited income. No matter where we lived, even if it was a little rental, my
mother always transformed our house into a cozy cottage home. I watched while my mother wallpapered, painted and fixed up anything she could. She taught me to be resourceful and work with whatever was available.
These early lessons taught me to be creative and have followed me through out my life.
Soon I caught the decorating bug. As a young girl I loved doing anything with my hands. I loved to do sewing, craft projects and was always redecorating my room.
So I guess I came by the decorating bug naturally.
I turned this love of making things with my hands, into a business with my mom, and we created and sold handmade
jewelry. We also put on holiday craft shows in our local area, and eventually owned and operated a retail gift shop in our
small tourist town.
Cottage Style Living
Today, I am blessed to experience cottage style living in the beautiful state of Washington. I live in a farmhouse that is over 100 years old. This here is a picture of our old barn.
We live on seven acres. We are currently remodeling and restoring our cottage farmhouse. Which is a lot of work, but is a very rewarding adventure.
I am happily married to my husband Tom, who is the patient man who puts up with my all my home decorating whims. I get the decorating ideas and inspirations and Tom helps me implement them. Together we enjoy cottage style living.
I am a homeschooling mom of three boys. One teenager, and toddler twins. Our life is full of blessings and busyness at the same time!
Between keeping up with a home, kids, and
website building, my cottage life is very full. Yet, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Here are our three boys...
This is Nolan, he is 14 years old.
Here is Caleb, he is 2 years old.
This is Levi, he is 2 years old also!
As you can see God has blessed us, and I only hope this site will bless you too. I love sharing my ideas, tips, and inspirations with all of you.
Maybe you will catch the decorating bug too. Thank you for visiting this site, and for taking the time to find out a little bit more about me, and my family.
Happy Decorating!
~Denise
