Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Here we will talk about bedroom decorating ideas. The bedroom is typically the last room of the house we see at the end of the day. By the time most people reach the bedroom, they're stressed and weary from the days' activities. The bedroom should be a haven or a refuge that enables you to completely let down, relax, and get a good night's rest.

Bedroom Colors

The first step to take when decorating a bedroom is to decide on the paint color. The color you choose will set the tone of the entire bedroom décor.

Earth or neutral tones rarely go wrong, but be prepared to use bedding and accessories to bring splashes of color to the space. Cool tones, such as green or blue are peaceful colors. Pale yellows and soft lilacs are a great background color for a cottage bedroom theme.

If you desire to have deep color in the bedroom, consider painting one accent wall in the room a deeper shade than the rest of the room. For accent walls, deep chocolate browns and burgundy tones are popular. Or, if you have a recessed ceiling, consider adding color to that area for additional color. Essentially, the paint color should reflect your personality and serve as the foundation for the rest of the room.

Bedding Choices

Once the paint color has been chosen, it's time to choose bedding. Your bedding, like the paint color, should reflect your personality. Treat yourself to luxuriously comfortable sheets. Granted, a quality sheet set is not an inexpensive item, but do buy the very best your budget will allow. Choose sheets with a thread count of at least 250, but nothing below 175 so that they’ll feel great and also wear well for you.

Choices for quality sheets include organic cotton, satin, flannel, cotton blends, or silk. Perhaps invest in one set of silk sheets for those days you require extra pampering. Organic bedding is very popular as it feels great and is a green product. A comforter, quilt, or duvet is the first thing you see when you walk into the room, so choose something you really love. Bedroom decorating ideas are endless. Don't forget to add comfy pillows and soft throws as accents to your bedroom.

Bedroom Furniture

Furniture is a key element to creating just the right theme in the bedroom. Modern bedroom furniture has sleek and polished lines. Country style bedroom furniture appears sturdier and comes in wood with various stain shades or white wood.

A seating area is a nice touch if you have the space. If nothing else, a bench or hope chest that doubles as a bench is a nice feature in any bedroom. No matter what style you choose, make sure the furniture lends itself to that theme, even if the pieces aren’t all part of the same suite.

Create Bedroom Ambience With Lighting

Lighting in a bedroom should be romantic and relaxing, but with enough for reading if desired. Recessed lighting, track lighting, ceiling fan light fixtures, wall sconces, pendant lighting, and traditional lamps are all good choices in a bedroom space.
