Apartment Decorating Ideas

googleadcentered.shtml

Apartment decorating can be limited a bit by rental guidelines and landlord laws, but that doesn’t mean your apartment or condo rental can’t be a beautiful space that is warm and inviting for you, your friends, and your family.

Decorating a studio apartment or coming up with a condo decorating plan takes a different approach than decorating a house in that apartments and condos are temporary living spaces for the most part.

When you’re coming up with ideas, keep in mind that nothing should be considered permanent and everything should be easily removable.

Introduce your personality into your apartment space with fabric. Sew up your own throw pillows, window treatments, wall art, chair cushions, table linens, or slipcovers to show off your personal taste and create a space that is uniquely yours (even if it isn’t a permanent one).

Muslin is extremely affordable and can be used to twist or swag on a curtain rod for instant charm around a window. Muslin is also great for sewing floor to ceiling sheers for tall windows.

If you’re not permitted to paint your apartment or condominium but are allowed to hang small items on the walls ( making small holes), consider using fabric to cover stark white walls. Tacking fabric up at the ceiling will give you instant charm and color in any room. It’s easy to remove and causes no undue harm to the walls. A fabric-covered corkboard displaying photos and artwork is a great accent and can usually be hung without too much ado.

Hide unsightly storage areas by skirting the area with fabric that matches or coordinates with the other fabrics in the same space. Create a table using two file cabinets and a piece of wood or glass on the top. Surround the piece of glass or wood with fabric and you instantly have a pretty table while still having access to your file cabinets. apartment decorating

Display your favorite vintage china or collectibles on open built-in bookshelves. For a clean appearance, group like items together and keep smaller items within an enclosed container such as a basket, tin, or hatbox.

Add your own personal photographs, artwork, or favorite collectibles amongst the groupings to personalize it. Or, if you prefer to use the open shelves for storage, sew up a quick curtain to camouflage your items until they’re needed.

Use large art canvases leaned against the wall for an instant boost to your décor. Large floor rugs may be just the ticket for covering up unsightly, stained carpet from the previous tenant or for softening the look and feel of wood floors.

Apartment decorating and condo decorating include making your balcony or patio your very own livable space. Comfortable seating, pillows, weather-resistant carpet, and some wonderful greenery will work wonders in an outdoor space.

Limit your furniture choices to just those that you love and can use daily. Keep the natural walkways open throughout the space. Even when decorating a studio apartment, you can incorporate simple furniture choices that look fantastic, but serve dual purposes. For example, a twin bed can be arranged with pillows and used as a couch during the day.

Apartment decorating, when done to customize a temporary space into your own personal home, can be a very rewarding experience.
